IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL BAGPUSS COLLECTORS
Robert Harrop have announced that they are retiring the whole range of Bagpuss characters.

Bagpuss a childrens favourite
Bagpuss is from the golden age of childrens programmes made in the 1970s having been made by a company called Smallfilms. Although only having made thirteen episodes they are well remembered by people of similar age to myself.

Each programme would open with a selection of sepia toned still photographs showing Emily (I believe this little girl was the daughter of the programme animator Peter Firman) who would find broken or lost things and take them to the Bagpuss shop. Before going Emilywould sing a little song to Bagpuss.

Bagpuss, a large old cat with fluorescent pink stripes had friends called Gabriel (the toad) Madeleine (a rag doll) Professor Yaffle (a carved wooden bookend)plus some scurrying mice.

The titles of the thirteen Bagpuss episodes are as follows.

The Ship in a Bottle - The Owls of Athens - The Frog Princess - The Ballet Shoe - The Hamish - The Wise Man - The Elephant - The Mouse Mill - The Giant - Old Mans Beard - The Fiddle- Flying - Uncle Feedle.
